  • Strategic Revival Under Pressure JSW Energy’s acquisition of the 700 MW Jharsuguda plant came with major challenges: over seven years of dormancy, severe equipment degradation, and regulatory non-compliance.


  • High Stakes, Tight Timelines With invalid licenses, missing records, and non-functional systems, the plant posed financial and operational risks, making swift, compliant restoration a strategic priority.



Our Solution


  • Rapid Mobilisation & Planning

    Reviving a dormant 700 MW plant required speed and precision. GIMS Energy mobilised quickly with staged site surveys, aligned compliance protocols, and deployed a skilled workforce with ready equipment and SOPs to meet compressed timelines.


  • Engineering & System Revamp

    We executed end-to-end restoration of two 350 MW units - covering boilers, BOP, and auxiliaries. Scope included hydro testing, drum and header reconditioning, high-temperature pipeline replacement, laser alignment, NDT, and in-situ fabrication to restore integrity.





  • Auxiliaries & Site Realities Key auxiliaries - fans, APH, pumps, ESPs -were refurbished and validated with OEMs. With no utilities or spares on-site, we created temporary power, lighting, and fabrication bays to sustain execution in harsh conditions.


  • Coordination & Delivery Over 350 personnel worked in shifts, supported by a 24x7 control centre and daily client reviews. Transparency, disciplined execution, and uncompromising safety under pressure built confidence and ensured project success.



Impact Created


  • A Dormant Asset, Reawakened Our successful revival of the 700 MW thermal plant transformed a stalled, loss-making facility into a fully operational power asset for JSW Utkal Energy Limited. With both 350 MW units restored - Unit 1 in 9 months and Unit 2 in 17 months - JSW regained critical base-load capacity to support its operations and regional grid stability.


  • Compliance Restored, Confidence Rebuilt The project re-established full regulatory compliance, including all Indian Boiler Regulation (IBR) approvals - reinforcing confidence among leadership, regulators, and investors.





  • A Strategic Milestone for JSW Energy This successful turnaround demonstrated JSW Energy’s capability to revive complex infrastructure under pressure - strengthening its position in India’s energy landscape and advancing its commitment to reliable, domestic power generation.
